  • Behind the Scene Tours

    Immerse yourself in a fun and educational experience that takes you behind the scenes to discover the captivating world of black bears.  Participants will get a close-up view of our resident bears and their naturalistic habitat.  Our knowledgeable guides will share bear facts, stories, interpret behavior, and so much more!  Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast or new to the outdoors, participants of all ages will surely enjoy this captivating and popular attraction.

    This program goes outside, rain or shine, so please come prepared for the weather.

  • Breakfast with the Bears

    Join our staff and bears in our viewing area and viewing deck to see our Ambassador Bears get their first meals of the days. Our care staff will talk to you all about black bear husbandry and black bear biology. This program is also broadcast live on our website bear.org everyday.

  • Cub Room Critters'

    Join us for an interactive and engaging experience that features our onsite reptiles and amphibians; snakes, turtles, salamanders, and more!  Designed for kids, but fun for the whole family, this program offers participants a chance to observe, learn about, and potentially interact with the small animals that play an essential role in education at the North American Bear Center.

  • Black or Brown Bear?

    Join our staff to learn the difference between the American black bear(Ursus americanus) and the brown bear (Ursus arctos). You will learn about bear behavior and how to tell these bears apart when seeing them in the field or in pictures. Then play a fun game to see how well you can tell the difference!

  • Northwoods Wonders

    Witness first hand the wonders of the northwoods!  Our “Northwoods Wonders” program highlights the diverse wildlife that call northern Minnesota home. From elusive amphibians to magnificent mammals, participants of all ages will have the opportunity to learn about the incredible biodiversity that surrounds black bears. This program features tactile opportunities with furs, bones, antlers, and more; you may even get to meet a live amphibian or reptile!

  • Northwoods Ecology Hike

    Join our staff for a hike through our nature trail system. Our staff will highlight local Northwoods ecology and other cool nature related points of interest.

  • Northwoods Evening Live

    From the comfort of your home, you can step into the hidden world of the black bear. Broadcasting worldwide from our live pond cam, viewers will get an incredible look at our naturalistic 2.5 acre bear enclosure. Topics will vary between captivating information, insights, and stories about our resident bears, black bear biology, Northwoods wildlife/ecology, and what’s happening in the Northwoods. Through live footage, interactive discussions, and special topics, the “Bear Broadcast” offers a unique opportunity to connect with one of the most iconic animals in the northwoods.
