Thomas Farley

Q: How long have you been volunteering at NABC?

A: I started volunteering in the summer of 2010. I am a student, so I can only do summertime.

Q: What motivated you to volunteer at NABC?

A: My major is wildlife ecology. I thought it a good idea to have some experience in the field. I found I really love working with the bears. The experience has been helpful with my major.

Q: What do you do as a volunteer?

A: I do a variety of things such as presenting the programs for visitors, answering questions for visitors, helping fix things, and helping feed the bears. I do whatever I can to help the staff at the NABC.

Q: Is there one memorable experience you’ve had as a volunteer?

A: Doing the programs in the viewing area is always a great experience. I really like the contact with the people that come to the NABC. I enjoy teaching them and answering their questions. The young kids ask great questions.

Q: What would you like volunteers to know about you?

A: I am a student at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. I love working at the NABC. The bear nurturing is a really great part of my volunteer work. I’ll be back volunteering again this summer.
