The mission of the North American Bear Center is to advance the long-term survival of bears worldwide by replacing misconceptions with scientific facts about bears, their role in ecosystems, and their relations with humans. We believe education is the key in achieving our mission.
The North American Bear Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and we rely solely on visitor admissions, retails sales, and the generosity of donors and members who believe in our mission. We do not receive any state or federal funding.
When you donate to the North American Bear Center, you will be supporting our mission by creating new exhibits, providing education to students and visitors and helping provide care for our Ambassador bears. Your donations also help us with general operations such as improvements and maintaining our facility.
Remember your donations are tax deductible.
You can also help by supporting our specific needs such as:
CUB ROOM MAKEOVER
Our new Cub Room will engage children of all ages to come and explore the world of black bears. Children and cubs learn by play and socialization. The Cub Room allows exploration by touch, and educational displays that can be manipulated and colored. The man-made den allows kids to act like bears and crawl inside and explore.
When you donate toward Bear Foods, you not only help provide food for the NABC bears, but you also help support the Wildlife Research Institute (WRI) and their supplemental feeding station. We work closely with the WRI to create and update exhibits for the Bear Center.
INTERNSHIP FUNDING PROGRAM
Since its inception, the Internship program has exploded in popularity. The program not only supports the North American Bear Center’s core mission of advancing the long-term survival of black bears, but offers hands-on experience to top-achieving college students. Interns learn bear care and bear behavior as well as research and presentation skills.
