North American Bear Center Internship Program

Our internship program is ideal for undergraduate and graduate students seeking careers in wildlife biology, zoology, environmental science, and wildlife behavior.

Interns will learn all aspects of captive black bear care including feeding, exercise, and enrichments for our four captive black bears residing in a world-class natural 2.5-acre habitat.  Interns will learn black bear behaviors and vocalizations.

Interns care for other small reptiles, fish, and amphibians and their habitats on display in our terrariums, in addition you will learn about the local flora and fauna.

Interns will:

  • Enhance their public speaking and presentation skills while educating the public about black bears during daily programs and podcasts.
  • Gain real life work experience in the field.
  • Contribute in a meaningful way to a worthwhile mission.
  • Network with other interns from both the NABC and the International Wolf Center.
  • Successful completion of our program will enhance your resume for future positions and internships.
